Guest Spot – Suzanne Moloney

CrossFit member Suzanne has managed to stay consistent with her training since becoming pregnant.

Here’s what she had to say about it…


How far along into your pregnancy are you?

I’m nearly 36 weeks pregnant so not too long to go!

How long were you doing CrossFit before you became pregnant?

I was doing crossfit for about 2 years before I got pregnant.

Have you taken a break at all, or have you managed to train continuously?

I haven’t really taken much breaks apart from 2 weeks during the summer. I trained about 3 times a week. Thankfully I wasn’t sick so could keep up my training.

Has much changed in your training, have you had to make many adjustments in classes?

As my pregnancy progressed, certain movements had to be modified but there was always something else I could do!
The coaches were very helpful and always gave me another scaled option. I’ve definitely reduced the amount of weight I’m lifting as the time progressed. If some movements didn’t feel right I changed it up. I think you need to listen to your body when pregnant, that’s crucial

Has keeping up your training impacted your pregnancy in any way?

I think keeping up my training has had a positive impact on my pregnancy. I was apprehensive at the start how it would go but as time went on, I felt confident with the coaches that there was always an alternative option if some movements risked me getting injured or were unsafe.

I think keeping up my training ensured my mood stayed positive & was good for my overall well being.
I even mastered double unders afew weeks ago!
I’ve had no major complaints in relation to my health and I think keeping up my training will hopefully make the delivery and recovery process easier, fingers crossed!
I’m sure baby will come out with a barbell! 😂
