The Frog Stand is an excellent tool for developing balance, strength and also awareness for the handstand. The focus should be on trying to use your hands to balance your bodyweight, which will in turn help prepare you for the handstand.
As you can see in the video, you can start small by keeping toes on the ground/one foot on the ground, and gradually build towards both feet off ground.
